Serving food to an entire community requires a few things to get right. First, you need to have a passion for food, then you need recipe knowledge. Lastly, but maybe most importantly, you need fresh ingredients. At Chelas Mexican Grill, we feel that using fresh ingredients takes every recipe we make to the next level. The problem is that using fresh ingredients takes a lot of time and effort, so why use fresh ingredients? We use fresh ingredients for a few major reasons.
Some may wonder why use fresh ingredients when time is of the essence at a restaurant and we ask why not use fresh ingredients?
Anyone who runs a business knows that time is the most valuable thing we have. It takes time to organize every aspect of a business but at a restaurant, it may be even more important. Choosing fresh ingredients takes time so why use fresh ingredients if it takes so much time? Well, time management is the key to using fresh ingredients. At Chelas Mexican Grill, we build relationships with our vendors so we always have the freshest produce for our customers. Speaking of customers – we have built our relationships with them as well. They are willing to wait a few extra minutes for freshly prepared food.
At Chelas Mexican Grill, we like to control the flavors of every dish all the way down to our tortilla chips and salsa. Every morning we roast fresh peppers and make our own salsas that everyone loves. We can’t control the flavors of pre-made dishes or salsas. This is why using fresh ingredients is so important. We can control the amount of spice, sweetness or any other flavor that goes into every dish. Unless of course, we make it ourselves, which is why spending the time to hand pick fresh ingredients is so important. Every flavor you taste, in every dish you order, is hand picked and put there for a reason.
Why use fresh ingredients? Because quality is above all, the most important aspect of any meal. Take for example our steak. At other Mexican restaurants, you order carne asada and have no idea what cut of steak you’re getting. You could be getting flank or skirt steak and only realize it when you taste it. People love our USDA rib-eye steak so much so that we are just known for it. Part of our morning routine is to trim the fat off our rib-eye, slice it and chop it into the sizes we need for every dish. By doing this ourselves, we add a level of quality that has everyone loving our carne asada more than others.
